THE BEGINNING

in the first days…

Greater Mysteries began as a seed—a quiet call toward transformation.

It was born from a deep reverence for the sacred cycle we all move through: life, death, and rebirth. Transformation is something we all go through—but there are moments when our personal rites of passage echo a larger, collective turning.

This is one of those MOMENTS.

Greater Mysteries invites us to meet that threshold—to witness and be witnessed as we descend, surrender, and return changed. Rooted in ancient myth and ritual, it offers more than music or performance—it opens a portal for cosmic communion: with ourselves, each other, and a force greater than ourselves.

This Fall Equinox, over 500 souls gathered across two nights in the depths of Widow Jane Mine …

Greater Mysteries is an ongoing cycle of seasonal gatherings in the Hudson Valley stewarded by composer and artist Kelli Scarr. Drawing inspiration from archetypal descent myths and ancient mystery traditions, the project explores transformation through the timeless arts of music, myth, and ritual.

Each year, participants are invited into a sequence of communal experiences that echo the initiatory cycles of the natural world. Concerts, workshops, and shared ritual are shaped by a living score that holds space for reflection, connection, and collective meaning-making.

The project began during an artist residency in Crete and took further shape during the recording of the Greater Mysteries album amid the stark beauty of Iceland.

It has continued to evolve through collaboration with a growing community, united by the belief that art can be a sacred offering.

THE PROJECT

We are honored to bring this work to resonant spaces that echo the mythic themes at the heart of the project. These are not traditional concerts, but living rites of passage - spaces where the boundary between artist and audience dissolves, and music becomes a vessel for personal and communal transformation.

At its core, Greater Mysteries is about connection: to story, to land, to spirit, and to one another. In a time of deep cultural change, it offers an opportunity to gather, to listen, and to dream new ways of being — together.

answering the call to descend together into music, ritual, and transformation. What emerged was a living experiment, a modern reflection of the ancient mystery rites.
